Living Venti Part 2 – A Big God = A Big Life

This series is all about living BIG! We serve a big God, who wants to do big things, has big plans for His Kingdom, this Church, your life, and calls us to think big along with Him

Hebrews 11:3 NIV – By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

Think about How Big God Is

Size of the Universe
The Earth
– the surface is 196 million square miles; one of 9 planets revolving around the sun.

The distance from the earth to the moon is 240,000 miles

The Sun – It is the closest start to the earth it is 93 million miles away. 865,000 miles across. 109 times the size of the earth. You can fit 1.3 million earth’s inside the sun. The sun is considered an average star in comparison with others in the universe.
•It takes light from the sun traveling at the speed of light approximately 8 minutes to get to earth.
•Every object in our solar system revolves around the sun. SAY WOW!

The Galaxy – Milky Way.
•200 to 400 billion stars
•200 discovered planets outside of our solar system
•hundred of billions of other galaxies
•2,500 years to count all the stars just in our galaxy.

1 light year – 5.8 trillion miles
The distance from the sun to the nearest star – 4.3 light years

Isaiah 40:12 NIV – Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?

We serve a BIG God!

Plato said, “Astronomy compels the soul to look upwards.”

Psalm 8:1-9 NIV – Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them? You have made them[d] a little lower than the angels[e] and crowned them[f] with glory and honor.You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their[g] feet: all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

The point is this: These incomparable and unfathomable wonders above tell us of a God who is quite simply…indescribable

“Indescribable, uncontainable, you placed the stars in the sky and you know them by name; you are amazing, God”

Isaiah 44:24 NIV – This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, who formed
you in the womb:I am the Lord, the Maker of all things,who stretches out the heavens, who spreads out the earth by myself,

Isaiah 45:12 NIV – It is I who made the earth and created mankind on it.
My own hands stretched out the heavens; I marshaled their starry hosts.

Augustine said, “The very order, disposition, beauty, change, and motion of the world and of all visible things silently proclaim that it could only have been made by God.”

2. Let’s Think Big about God’s Plans for us

God wants you to live a BIG life.

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Ephesians 3:20 NIV – Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,

•(amplified version-  “Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]”

John 10:10 AMP – The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it [a]overflows).

What God said to Abraham

Genesis 22:17 NIV – I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies,

God wanted Abraham to look beyond the place, conditions, circumstances he was in right then

Genesis 12:2 NIV – “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you;
I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.

There is nothing to hard for God

Genesis 18:13-14 NIV – Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”

Luke 18:27 NIV – Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”

God adds His Super to our Natural. When we do our best God does the rest!

3. Let’s Think Big in our Attitude towards Life

If you’re going to be thinking anything, you might as well think big. Donald Trump

2 Corinthians 6:11-13 (MSG) – “Dear, dear Corinthians, I can’t tell you how much I long for you to enter this wide-open, spacious life. We didn’t fence you in. The smallness you feel comes from within you. Your lives aren’t small, but you’re living them in a small way. I’m speaking as plainly as I can and with great affection. Open up your lives. Live openly and expansively!”

Paul is encouraging us to abandon petty small thinking for us to Think BIG

“How you think determines what you become” Zig Ziglar

Proverbs 23:7 NKJV – For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…
Proverbs 4:23 NCV“Be careful what you think because your thoughts run your life.”

You will never change your life until you change the way you think. (God has empowered you to do that)

Remember: God paints your future success on the canvas of you mind
•Abandon Pettiness – Petty Thinking;
•Petty – of little importance; trivial. not very important or serious
•petty arguments, accusations, competition, judgement = distractions of our time and attention that hinders us from thinking and doing big things! Add no value worthwhile to you or others.

Your greatest limitations are those in which you create in your mind

Isaiah 54:2-3 NIV – “Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities

Enlarge – broaden / bigger view
Stretch – Go beyond, don’t stay where you are. it’s uncomfortable

Make a Decision to Live Venti

Small thinking holds you in a life of mediocrity. Your life is not small. God has done no small thing in you.

I John 4:4 NIV – You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world

The Key is not to live by what people say, but what God says!

People say, “You can’t, you won’t, why try?, give up! Be real! , It’s too late! It’s never been done!”

God says:
•“I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me” Phil. 4:13
•“Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might..” Eph. 6:10
•“In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” Rom. 8:37
•“As He is, so are we in this world” I John 4:17

We all have the promise that life contains infinite possibilities…yet most of us settle for a routine that narrows our life to the dimensions of a prison cell.”

I dare you! Start Living a big life even though you may be living in a small place at the moment! We serve a Big God!

Take your eyes off your past, because your past is not your potential! Choose to liberate your future!
