Luke 10:38-42 NIV – 38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” 41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.

”Christianity is not a legal relationship, it is a love relationship. Ten thousand “don’ts” will never make you one iota more like the Lord Jesus Christ. The key is spending time with him. Remember Time spent alone with God is never wasted.

Matthew 11:28-29 The Msg – “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

We are so busy with a million pursuits that we don’t even notice the most important things slipping away. We are overwhelmed by the pace of life – 24/7 nonstop – it’s the mantra of our culture.

•We live in a very tense, uptight and fast paced world filled with stress.  We are frazzled, overwhelmed, complexed, & bewildered. We have heavier work loads, greater demands, higher stress than ever before, and we are busy busy busy.

The busyness of things obscures our concentration on God … Never let a hurried lifestyle disturb the relationship of abiding in Him. This is an easy thing to allow, but we must guard against it.—Oswald Chambers

”I just don’t have the time” is the excuse we hear so often. Every person has exactly the same amount of time each week – 168 hours.

-You make time for things that are important

-To often we give God only the tired remnants of our time

-You don’t have time for everything – you must make time for things that count. It’s not a matter of time, it’s a matter of priorities.

Matthew 6:33 ESV – But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Put God first in your life and day and you will have more time! Don’t allow anything to rob you of your time with God. It’s your number 1 spiritual priority.

E.M. Bounds once said, “The men who have most fully illustrated Christ in their characters, and have most powerfully affected the world for Him, have been men who spent so much time with God as to make it a notable feature in their lives. TO BE LITTLE WITH GOD IS TO BE LITTLE FOR GOD.”

It is an appointment with God, a block of time chiseled out of your day and set apart for God, a time of private worship. Think of it as a date with God; a time for just the two of you. Sometimes we call it “having a devotion,” “an appointment with God,” “meeting with God.” This simply means we are making time for God in our day.

Mark 1:35 NIV  Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.

The Gospel of Mark tells us that Jesus made time with God a priority. If Jesus needed to spend meaningful time with God, don’t you think that we need it even more?

•John Ortberg says consistent spiritual discipline becomes, “a rhythm for living in which we can grow more intimately connected to God.”

If you don’t break the tensions of daily living, they will break you!

What Happens When I Spend Time With God?

1.God changes our heart.

Psalms 51:10 ESV says, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right[a] spirit within me.”

Create – describes the work of God, not something you do but God does.

Ezekiel 26:26 NLT – And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.

Through Christ’s sacrifice for you and for me, we can be forgiven of our sins, standing before God as clean as if we had never sinned. When we spend time with God, He shows us those areas we must confess as sin, prompting us to ask forgiveness, and then He is able to cleanse us. He changes our hearts.

2. God gives us direction for living.

Romans 8:14 ESV “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons[a] of God.”

If we are His children, we can expect to be led by the Spirit of God. How are we going to get direction? By spending time talking to Him (through prayer), and through listening to Him (through His Word). This is the essence of a quiet time. When we spend time with Him, we get a different perspective on life.

C.S. Lewis once said, “The moment you wake up each morning, all your wishes and hopes for the day rush at you like wild animals. And the first job each morning consists in shoving it all back, in listening to that other voice, taking that other point of view, letting that other, larger, stronger, quieter life come flowing in.”

How do we listen to that “other voice”?

Psalm 119:105 ESV Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

God will enlighten our path and show us which way to go as we spend time in His Word.

3. God’s presence is present during difficult times.

Spending Time with God repairs the damage done by the fret and noise and clamour of the world and give us assurance of His presence and peace

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 ESV  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

How is God going to be able to comfort us, if we don’t spend time with Him?

Psalm 16:11 ESV – You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

4. We Can be friends with God

James 2:23 NLT – And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God.

“It is better to be alone with God. His friendship will not fail me, nor His counsel, nor His love. In His strength, I will dare and dare and dare until I die.” Joan of Arc

John 15:13-15 ESV – Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants,[a] for the servant[b] does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you

We are no longer in the dark as to what our Master is doing, but we have been graciously invited into the inner circle—the divine circle in this case—and privileged with the knowledge of what our Master is feeling, thinking, and doing.

Everything that Jesus has heard from his Father he has willingly made known to us. To open up your heart to someone, as God has done with us, is a gesture of friendship.

I Corinthians 1:9 ESV – God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord

In Charles Dickens’s Tale of Two Cities there is a wonderful illustration of the extent to which Christ went to secure a friendship with us. In the story, Charles Darnay and Sydney Carton are two people who become close friends. Darnay happens to be thrown into a dungeon and faces the guillotine the next morning. Carton, on the other hand, a lawyer by profession, has piddled away his life through loose living in England. Carton hears of Darnay’s predicament and through a series of circumstances gets himself into the prison and the cell where Darnay is being held. He changes garments with Darnay and the next morning faces the guillotine while his friend Carton escapes to freedom. “Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends!” Dickens even quotes this passage. So is Christ’s love for his friends!

A PRAYER OF COMMITMENT “Lord I commit myself to spending a definite time with You every day, no matter what the cost. I am depending on Your strength to help me to be consistent.”

How To Survive the End of the World Part 1

“How To Survive the End of the World Pt.1”

Everybody wants to know about the end of the world. Some people love to make predictions about when it will happen, some people love to interpret current news and speculate how it will happen, and everyone loves to make money selling their terrifying visions to anyone willing to buy them..

The end is coming. Are we ready for the day when it all comes crashing down and nothing is left but the countdown to the end of the world? In this series we will talk about ways that we can get ready for the end and start living for the beginning of the rest of our lives.

“The Book of Eli,” “The Darkest Hour,” “Contagion,” “The Day After Tomorrow, “San Andreas”. The list of doomsday movies that Hollywood produces is incredible. Yet, they keep coming. There’s something about these end of the world stories that fascinates us, frightens us and keeps us coming back for more. The theme that inspires is survival. Against all odds, when all hope is lost, humanity grabs hold of courage, defies the enemy and turns the tide. How will you survive the end of the world?

(Matthew 24:1-6 NIV) “Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. “Do you see all these things?” he asked. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.”As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.”

1. Don’t Be Alarmed, Don’t Be Troubled

Jesus wants us to be calm, quiet spirited, not worried, and not to be deceived.

(2 Peter 3:3-10 NIV) First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ʻcomingʼ he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.”

Writing this letter near the end of his life, Peter wanted to remind Christians that the final day is real. He calls it “the day of the Lord” and reminds his Christian readers that it is unquestionably coming.

To scoff means to speak in a scornful or mocking way. What do scoffers think about the end? In verse 4, Peter says that the false teachers mock the promise of Christ’s return and a final judgment. “Where is it?” they ask. “Ever since the days of the ancient patriarchs the world has gone on without interruption.” The scoffers claim that God has not and will not intervene in world history.

How do we know?

√ People will do their own thing.

(Me focused, materialistic, Selfie Centered)

(Matthew 24:37-39 NIV) “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away.”

√ People will forget God.

(Matthew 24:12 NIV) “Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.”

Many will turn away from the Faith, against the Faith, Twist the Faith, & Tune out the Faith. Have Misplaced Priorities.

√ People will think Heʼs not coming.

(1 Thessalonians 5:2 NIV) “For you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.”

√ People will not be ready.

(Matthew 24:40-42 NIV) “Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.”

If the end is near…

1.I should pray.

(1 Peter 4:7 NIV) “The end of all things is near, therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.”

Anytime God wanted something done on the earth he calls someone to pray!

Luke 21:36 NIV –  Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”

Real prayer is driven by relationship not need or crisis.

U can dump your junk. God gets bigger, your junk gets smaller.

Causes u to b more focused minded

a. Make it personal not formal.

(Matthew 6:7-8 NIV) And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

b. Pray with confidence.

(Hebrews 4:15-16 NIV) For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are —yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

“The less I pray, the harder it gets; the more I pray, the better it goes.” – Martin Luther

(James 5:16 NLT) “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

2.I should focus on my relationships.

(1 Peter 4:8-9 NIV) “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.”

Relationships are far more important than issues or disagreements. Get over those quickly.

most important – on 9/11 ppl were making last calls to loved ones

a. What relationship needs to be initiated

(Luke 6:13 NIV) “When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them…”

  b.  What relationship needs to be nurtured

(Galatians 5:13-15 NIV) “Serve one another in love. The entire law is summed up in a single command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.”

c. What relationship needs to be restored

(Ephesians 4:3 NIV) “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”

Colossians 3:13 NIV – Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

3. I should get my life right with God.

(2 Peter 3:11 NIV) “Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly

lives.”

(Matthew 24:42 NIV) Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.

(Romans 10:9-10 NIV) “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”

4.Share Christ with urgency

(Luke 12:16-21 NCV) “The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I’ll say to myself, ‘You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.’ But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.”

Conclusion

Just as there was a beginning, there will be an end. We will not be reincarnated. We live once, we will die once and then we will stand before God. For unbelievers, today is the day to believe in him and turn from sin. For believers, today is the day to live lives of godliness and holiness so that we are ready for that final day.

When the End looks Troubling – Look Up! Look to Christ!

Luke 21:28 NIV – When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

Dream Big Pt.4 – God’s Dream for Your Life

Dream Big Pt.4 – God’s Dream for Your Life

Jeremiah. 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not hard you, plans to give you a hope and a future!”

God’s Dream for you is PERSONAL and God’s Dream for you is POSITIVE

We have been programmed to live within the limitations that other people have set for us. I want to elevate our perception of what is possible for us.

Example: 2 young men at Stanford U named Larry Page and Sergey Brin had a dream tp build a search engine bigger than Yahoo. The Dream came true. Google has become the most popular and comprehensive search engine on the internet.

•If a human dream can be so powerful, how much more a God given dream? The difference between a human dream and a God given dream is that the human dream has a time span. But a God given dream takes you into eternity because it has eternal value and significance.

Psalms 37:4 -5 NIV – ”Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.”

Desire – To long or hope for, to express a wish for, impulse toward an object or experience that promises satisfaction. The Desires God puts in us indicate His will.

•God has placed within our heart hopes and dreams that HE wants to fulfill for us.

A person with big dreams is more powerful than a person with all the facts. Because if the dream is big enough, the facts don’t count.

Divinely Revealed Events Awaiting Manifestation

Nothing happens in this world until someone starts dreaming!

God’s Dream for your life will always REQUIRE FAITH

If a dream comes from God you cannot do it on your own. You can only do it by faith!

Ephesians 3:20 Living Bible – Now glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of—infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.

Hebrews 11:6 NIV – And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Faith is… To have trust or assurance, confidence, conviction, belief, reliance in what God says. Trust that produces actions

”Faith is to believe what we do not see; and the reward of this faith is to see what we believe” –Augustine

Mark 9:23 ESV – And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.”

God’s Dream will never CONTRADICT GOD’S WORD

Hebrews 4:12 ESV–  For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Joshua 1:8 ESV – This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success

Psalm 1:1-3 NIV Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither- whatever they do prospers.

1. Dedicate All My Life to God

You’ve got to be willing to do whatever God wants you to do, even before he tells you.

Romans 12:1-2 NIV – Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

•God doesn’t want just a part of our life, He wants ALL of US, every part of who we are and what we do.

Hebrews 12:1 NIV – Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

Acts 20:24 NLT – But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.

2. Reserve Time Alone with God

You cannot get God’s dream unless you spend time with God.

Prayer is the activating force that puts authority and the power of God to work in your life and make your dreams come true

Job 37:14 NLT – “Pay attention to this, Job. Stop and consider the wonderful miracles of God! (pause a moment…and listen)

Catherine Marshall says, “There is no limit to what this combination of dreams and prayer can achieve.”

God speaks to people who take time to listen

I Kings 19:11-12 NIV – The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.

Colossians 4:3 NIV Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

The greatest value in prayer is not what you can get from God but what you learn & become

•If you and I are too busy to Pray, we give our spiritual life a funeral!

“I pray because I can’t help myself. I pray because I’m helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me, all the time waking and sleeping. It does not change God. It changes me.” CS Lewis

3. Evaluate My Abilities

Ephesians 2;10 NIV – For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

We are saved to serve. Use your talents and gifts to help other people!

I Peter 4:10 Living Bible – God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God’s many kinds of blessings.

•“In my view, people are never closer to living out the teachings of Christ than when they are adding value to someone else’s life. And people who are far from God are rarely more impacted than when they see 21st-Century Christ-followers behaving as Christ behaved.” ~Bill Hybels

Tertullian said, “He who lives only to benefit himself confers on the world a benefit when he dies.”

4. Associate with Godly Dreamers

Hang out with people who are trying to discover God’s dream for their life. There’s no such thing as a neutral friend. They’re either pulling you toward God’s dream or pulling you away from it.

Proverbs 27:17 NIVAs iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

Andrew Carnegie said, “It marks a big step in your development when you come to realize that other people can help you do a better job than you can do alone.”

Helen Keller said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much”

When right people enter your life, right things happen. Right people are those who will build you and not tear you down. They are excited about your potential and dreams.

I Corinthians 15:33 NIV Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

Dr Carl Menger said, Our environment shapes us more than our DNA or heredity

Disconnect from People who take you down and not up, they make withdrawals but never deposits. They abuse and misuse you. They gossip about you instead of guard you

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NIV – Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor:10  If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up 11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

We have not come together to compete with one another, but to complete one another

5. Make my Dream Public

Visualize the dream, then verbalize the dream! Because it will get you started, it will attract other people’s support, and it will release God’s Power.

Habakkuk 2:2-3 NKJV – Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.

The Mouth is the expression of your thoughts, dreams, and vision. What you are dreaming is expressed in what you say and do.

2 Corinthians 4:13 NIV  It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.”[a] Since we have that same spirit of[b] faith, we also believe and therefore speak,

Your future and dreams does not respond to anyone’s voice but your own

Mark 11:23 ESV – Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.

Start saying things you dream about that you want to happen in your life, not what you don’t want to happen! Jesus said to speak to the mountain, not about the mountain.  Jesus said you can have what you say, but you have been saying what you have

I Thessalonians 5:24 NIV – The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.

Dream Big Pt.1

DreamBig_SM

Dream Big Pt. 1

Everybody has a dream deep down inside of them. If you could do anything, what would it be?

Theologian Frederick Henry Hedge said, “Dreaming is an act of pure imagination, attesting in all men a creative power, which if it were available in waking, would make every man a Dante or a Shakespeare.”

Get a DREAM for your life that makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning!

The very meaning of our lives is linked to our dreams. I believe each of us have a dream placed in the heart. I’m not talking about wanting to win the lottery. or that kind of idea comes from a desire to escape our present circumstances. I’m talking about a vision deep inside that speaks to the very soul. It’s the thing we were born to do. Something you can do, something you can become, or something you can have.

(Ephesians 3:20 Message)  “God can do anything—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!”

Don’t allow small thinking and dreaming hold you in a life of mediocrity

Have you dared to dream? I mean really dream?

What’s Your Dream? What has God put on your Heart?

For most people that is a tough question. Most people can tell you what they don’t want. But it’s often difficult for them to describe exactly what they do want.

The tragedy is that too many people have no destination in mind for their lives. Before you can live your own future, you are going to have to become a dreamer.

It’s Like Alice in Wonderland where Alice comes to the junction in the road that leads in different directions. She doesn’t know where she really wants to go, so she asks the Cheshire Cat for advice:

“Cheshire Cat….would you tell me please, which way I ought to go from here?” “That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” the Cat said. “I don’t care much where…” Alice said. “Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” the Cat said.

Don’t be like Alice! Begin right now to decide exactly where you want to go! Start focusing on the Dream that is in your heart!

NO man will ever get anywhere untill he first knows where is going!

Yogi Berra said, “If you don’t know where you’re going, you’re never going to get there.”

Thoreau once said, “If one advances confidently in the direction of his or her dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he or she  will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”

Life is a journey and every journey has a destination. Everybody ends up somewhere in life.

What is a Dream?

A series of thoughts, images, or emotions occurring during sleep. a visionary creation of the imagination. Something notable for its beauty, excellence, or enjoyable quality. A goal or purpose ardently desired. A condition or achievement that is longed for; an aspiration.

Divinely Revealed Events Awaiting Manifestation

•Dreams contain nearly limitless power to lift us up in a world that sometimes seems determined to hold us down!

•Dreams have the power to pull us forward in the face of adversity

•Dreams have the power to sharpen our focus and fill our lives with energy and passion

1. God Wants us to Dream Big Dreams

God wants you to connect with His dream and His dream is the force that invents your future!

God paints your future success, significance, peace, and joys on the canvas of you mind

(Isaiah 55:9)  “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Amos 4:13 NIV – He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind, and who reveals his thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn to darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth—the Lord God Almighty is his name.

•The same God who set the mountains in place placed desires in your heart! The size of your dream matters to God.

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future

A person with big dreams is more powerful than a person with all the facts. Because if the dream is big enough, the facts don’t count.

Abraham and Sarah

God wants your dream so big that when you talk about it, you’ll want to laugh about it

Genesis 17:17 NLT – Then Abraham bowed down to the ground, but he laughed to himself in disbelief. “How could I become a father at the age of 100?” he thought. “And how can Sarah have a baby when she is ninety years old?”

Genesis 18:12 NLT – So she laughed silently to herself and said, “How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master—my husband—is also so old?”

•The dream that God gave Abraham was so crazy, so outlandish, that if it came true God would get all the Glory!

God wants to take you from laughing at your dream to actually believing it’s possible!

Genesis 18:13-14 NLT – Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say, ‘Can an old woman like me have a baby?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”

Eleanor Roosevelt said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams”

2. God Communicates Through Uncommon Dreams and Visions

God will give you a vision, a mental picture of something big. He will give you a film, a movie in your mind’s eye. Satan’s plan is always to cloud your picture.

Proverbs 29:18 KJV – Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

God will birth within you an invisible picture of you future. The Dream will be something you can do, something you can become, or something you can have. God uses dreams to provide focus, progression, and enthusiasm. The Ability to dream moves you in the path of God’s purpose for your life.

Joel 2:28 NIV – “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions

Abraham

Genesis 22:17 NIV – I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies,

Joseph

Genesis 37:9 NIV – Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”

3. Use your God given Imagination

If you can SEE the invisible you can do the impossible! All dreams start with inspired imagination – it’s the blueprint for your ultimate destiny.

“A DREAM is your creative vision for your life in the future. You must break out of your current comfort zone and become comfortable with the unfamiliar and the unknown.” Dennis Waitley

Your imagination is an invisible machine inside your mind. God gave it to us to create pictures. Pictures of what we desire and dream about.

One  of the most beautiful gifts God has given us is our minds.

There are two major Functions of our mind:

  1. Memory – your memory will photograph, file and replay pictures of your past
  2. Imagination – It creates and replays pictures of things you want to happen in your future.

Albert Einstein said, “Imagination is everything. It’s the preview of life’s coming attractions.”

Imagination – the act of power of forming mental image of something not present to the senses of never before wholly seen in reality.

QUIT saying “I Can’t IMAGINE that”

Unlock the power of possibility Dreaming.

Stop focusing on the impossibilities

Take the word out of your vocabulary. Don’t reduce God down to the size of your brain

We need to think with a mind of faith – possibilities. Otherwise you will limit yourself and God

(Mark 10:27)  Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

Great achievers have learned to replay the memories of their past triumphs and preplay the pictures of there desired successes.

Example: When David faced the giant Goliath, he mentally replayed his previous victories in killing the bear and the lion. Then he used his imagination to picture and preplay his impending victory over Goliath. Look at his vision/picture for killing Goliath that would be given to him.

I Samuel 17:25-27 NIV –  Now the Israelites had been saying, “Do you see how this man keeps coming out? He comes out to defy Israel. The king will give great wealth to the man who kills him. He will also give him his daughter in marriage and will exempt his family from taxes in Israel.”26 David asked the men standing near him, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?” 27 They repeated to him what they had been saying and told him, “This is what will be done for the man who kills him.”

•David SAW the Money, and He SAW the Honey! IF you see what you want, You’ll get what you want.

You are going to have to live in the future anyway, so it might as well be the future you are picturing for yourself, rather than a future that somebody else is designing for you.

What can you Imagine or Dream? It will be powered by your imagination

God brought clarity to Abraham’s dream through the use of a Picture – This relieves the tension between his faith in the promise and the present realities

Genesis 15:5 NIV – He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring[a] be.”

God used the IMAGERY of stars and sand to help strengthen the dream in his heart that was growing weak due to the negative impact of temporary circumstances.

Walt Disney said, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them!”

The Power of Imagination

There’s a remarkable observation in Genesis 11:6 that illustrates the power of the imagination. The babylonians wanted to build a city and a tower that would reach into heaven. But this was an exaltation against God so he was displeased.

Genesis 11:6 KJV – And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

God acknowledged the gift and power of imagination  – but they misused it – God has given everyone us this incredible gift – The ability to picture within our minds something we want to happen.

Your imagination is the workshop of your mind. You can DREAM, DISIGN, and DETERMINE what you want to happen in your life. Whatever dominates your imagination today will very likely be experienced in your life tomorrow.

Proverbs 23:7 NKJV “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…”

Proverbs 4:23 NCV “Be careful what you think because your thoughts run your life.”

Why? Because you mind is the drawing room for your tomorrow. What happens in your mind will happen in time.

Einstein said, Logic will take you from A to B, but imagination will take you everywhere!

In your mind, you can go to your past or to your future. You decide. Your mind is not restricted by location. God gave you a MIND so He can give you a picture of where He wants to take you.

4. Don’t let someone else’s disapproval or opposition hinder you from Dreaming Big

Genesis 37:6-11 NIV – He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had: We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.” His brothers said to him, “Do you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dream and what he had said. Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”10 When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, “What is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?” 11 His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind.

•Joseph was hated, taunted, and rebuked by his brothers and father. His brothers threw him into a pit sold him into slavery for $12.80. He was working for Potiphar, and falsely accused of raping his wife, and ended up in prison.

Dreamers who Overcame Opposition to realize their dreams

  1. Basketball superstar Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team. However, he didn’t give up. His philosophy: “I play to win. The day I stop improving is the day I walk away from the game.” He didn’t just have a dream. He committed to shooting 300 baskets a day, and his dream became a reality.
  2. Winston Churchill failed the sixth grade. He did not become Prime Minister of England until he was 62, and then only after a lifetime of defeats and setbacks.
  3. When Thomas Edison invented the light bulb, he tried over 2,000 experiments before he got it to work. A young report asked him how it felt to fail so many times. He said, “I never failed once. I invented the light bulb. It just happened to be a 2,000 step process.”

James 1:2-4 NIV – Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Robert Schuller once said, “Are you disappointed, discouraged and discontented with your present level of success? Are you secretly dissatisfied with your present status? DO you want to become a better or more beautiful person than you are today? Would you like to be able to really learn how to be proud of yourself and still not lose genuine humility? Then start DREAMING! It’s possible!  You can become the person you have always wanted to be!”

Genesis 39:21-23 NIV  the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. 22 So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there. 23 The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph’s care, because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.

Step our of the dominant culture of resignation and mediocrity and endeavor to create the life of your dreams!

We have been programmed to live within the limitations that other people have set for us. I want to elevate our perception of what is possible for us.

Proverbs 13:12 NKJV – Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.

Shift Pt.8 – Habits

Shift-Series

Shift Pt.8 – Habits

(Hebrews 12:11 NIV) “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”

I am your constant companion.

I am your greatest helper or heaviest burden.

I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.

I am completely at your command.

Half the things you do you might just as well turn over to me, and I will be able to do them quickly, correctly.

I am easily managed – you must merely be firm with me. Show me exactly how you want something done, and after a few lessons I will do it automatically.

I am the servant of all great people; and alas, of all failures as well. Those who are failures, I have made failures.

I am not a machine, though I work with all the precision of a machine plus the intelligence of a human being.

You may run me for a profit or turn me for ruin – it makes no difference to me.

Take me, train me, be firm with me, and I will place the world at your feet.

Be easy with me and I will destroy you.

Who am I?

I AM HABIT.

You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.

H-A-B-I-T…When 95% of people hear this word, a negative thought pops up in their minds. Typically, most people think of a habit being negative. If there are negative habits that can destroy people’s lives then there are also positive habits that can build our lives.

The secret to your future lies in your daily habits so ask yourself right now, “Are my habits today going to help me achieve my success and shift in life?”

“Successful people are simply those with successful habits”

Habits – a usual way of behaving : something that a person does often in a regular and repeated way; a pattern of behavior. Habit comes from a Latin word which means to “hold” or “live in”.

The Roman poet Ovid said, Nothing is stronger than habit.” Dr. Samuel Johnson, said, “Habits are chains that are too small to be felt until they are too strong to be broken.” Habits can become stronger than life itself. An old Spanish proverb says, “Habits begin like threads in a spider’s web, but end like the chains in a prison.”

Some people are always late, while others are never late

Some people always see the problems, while others always see the possibilities

Some people are predictable frowners, while others are predictable smilers

•the habit of making yourself look good

•the habit of giving up too early

•the habit of not telling the whole truth

•the habit of taking the easy way

•the habit of getting angry all the time

•the habit of blaming others for everything

•the habit of feeling sorry for yourself

•the habit of ducking your responsibilities

Do I need to go on? Have I named your bad habit yet?

In 1989 Steven Covey wrote a bestselling book entitled “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” which outlined 7 habits which he promises guarantee success in life.

Success often depends on the habits you develop. The Greek philosopher Aristotle once said, We are what we repeatedly do.  Excellence…is not an act, but a habit.”

A doctor was counseling his patient about a problem with his weight. “I don’t know what the problem is doctor. I just can’t seem to get rid of this flab. Maybe I have an overactive thyroid.” To which the doctor replied, “Listen, I’ve run tests and your thyroid is fine. If anything’s overactive it’s your fork.”

Ouch! That’s not what we like to hear! It’s not always easy to get rid of unhealthy habits, is it? It’s not always easy to develop new healthy habits you’ve never practiced before. But the truth is your habits really can make you or break you. One of the keys to living life to the fullest is to develop healthy habits not only of body, but of mind and spirit.

I want to look to a better book than Covey’s—I want us to look at God’s book, the Bible, where we can discover habits which can guarantee success in your life-not success in the stock market, or success as the world measures success, or lasting success in the eyes of God .

Isaiah 55:7-9 NIV – Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.8  “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”declares the Lord.9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

They are Hard Habits to Break

Bad habits are easy to develop, and often hard to deal with and remove. The best time to deal with a bad habit is NOW! To delay only allows the habit to get entrenched deeper in our lives.

JC Penney said, The best way to stop a bad habit is never to begin it

A bad habit is something you find yourself doing even though it is destructive either physical, mentally, emotionally, relationally or spiritually. Or you consistently do something you wish you wouldn’t do, but you find yourself doing it any way.

(Romans 7:15, 18-19, 20-21, 25 NLT) “I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate. 18 I want to do what is right, but I can’t. 19 I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it. 21 I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord.”

•Confused. •Conflicted. •Discouraged.

ILL. I heard the story of how elephants are brought into captivity. Have you ever been to a circus and seen a giant elephant with a small rope around its ankle? Did you ever stop to think, hey, wait a minute? Physically speaking, there is no way that small little rope can hold back that giant elephant! And did you ever wonder how it happened that a giant elephant could be held in place by something that does not have the power to contain him.

Here’s how it works. When trainers begin taming a baby elephant, they place a heavy chain around its ankle and stake the chain into the ground. Day after day, hour after hour, the baby elephant struggles to escape. But his efforts are in vain. He simply cannot break free from the grips of that powerful chain. Eventually he surrenders. He resolves in his mind that there is no possible way he can escape that chain. So he relinquishes forever the struggle to be free.

Then when he has given up trying, his masters replace that giant chain with the small little rope. If the elephant ever opened his eyes to the truth, he could break free at any moment. All it would take is one try, but since the elephant doesn’t know that, he doesn’t take a step in the right direction of freedom.

And so it happens that ten, twenty, thirty years later, the giant elephant remains held in bondage by something that really has no power to control him, except the power he chooses to give it.

Destructive, bad habits form unseen chains that make a slave out of you – and finally destroy you.

The Promise is:

Galatians 5:1 NLT – So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.

True freedom is not the right to do what I want but the power to do what I ought!

Romans 12:2 NLT – “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

Harness the Power of a Good Habit – Bad habits must be replaced by good ones

It’s not so much that we break bad habits; we must replace them.

example– Worry needs replaced with trust in God, negative thoughts with faith filled positive thoughts

Ex: An old Cherokee tale tells of a grandfather teaching life principles to his grandson. The wise old Cherokee said Son on the inside of every person a battle is raging between 2 wolves. One wolf is evil… It’s angry, jealous, unforgiving, proud and lazy. The other wolf is good. It’s filled with love, kindness, generosity and self control… the 2 wolves are constantly fighting. The little boy thought about it and said Grandfather, which wolf is going to win? The grandfather smiled and said whichever one you feed.

Ephesians 4:17-24 NIV – So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Great People Have Great Habits

•Luke 4:16 – Jesus had a habit of going to church every Sabbath

•Daniel 6:10 – Daniel had a habit of giving thanks to God in prayer three times a day

•Psalms 34:1 – David had a habit of praising God continually

When you change habits, by improving them, you literally change and improve your life.

•A change of habit can change your financial position… you can be in a completely different position 3 months from now…

•A change of habit can put you in better relationships… (attend life group)

•A change of habit can change the atmosphere of your Home

•A change of habit can add incredible insight to your life… (reading books)

•A change of habit can add years to your life and increase the quality of your life…

OUR LIFE GETS BETTER WHEN WE GET BETTER.

When you practice good habits you produce good fruit. (results) Good habits will make your life easier, more successful, and more productive.

Matt. 12:33 “Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit.

“For things to change, you have to change. For things to get better, you have to get better. For things to improve, you have to improve. When you grow, everything in your life grows with you.” Jim Rohn

Habits are like gravity; they will always pull you towards them.

First We make a Habit, then a Habit makes us

Nobody is going to compete in the Olympics without first embracing a lifestyle of Habit. Champions have champion habits.

If you want to rise above mediocrity…If you want to create a positive force that will move you towards massive success….then you must develop good habits .

(1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NLT) “Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! 25 All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 26 So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. 27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should.”

(Hebrews 12:1 NLT) “…Let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us.”

“We sow our thoughts, and we reap our actions. We sow our actions and we reap our habits. We sow our habits, and we reap our character, and we reap our destiny.”

When You SHIFT your Habits, by replacing them, You literally Shift and improve your Life

Bad habits are not one time experiences. When what you do repeatedly changes, your life changes

Life Style habits that change our lives when we change (Shift) them:

Spending habits, driving habits, social habits, talking habits, dressing habits, eating and drinking habits, giving habits, reading habits, sexual habits, church attendance habits, and exercise habits.

Those Shifts of Habit:

Can qualify you for a promotion,

Can open the door for new and better relationships to enter your life

Can increase and position you in a place of prosperity

Can change the atmosphere in your home

Can add years to your life and increase the quality of your life

If We are not making positive Shifts in our lives, then negative shifts (changes) are making us.

If you could change one habit, what would you change? Whatever the answer is, make every effort to add to who you already are as a person

2 Peter 1:5-8 NIV – For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Never Stop Changing Never stop replacing Habit for Habit. Whenever negative habits are allowed to linger in our lives, they steal the possibilities of a new and better life!

It’s not what you HEAR that makes you SHIFT, It’s what you DO

Your life does not get better by chance. It gets better by CHANGE. Don’t be a victim of your habits.

James 1:22-25 ESV – But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

What To Do Today to Shift Your Habits

1. Change Your Thinking

If you want things to SHIFT and Change on the outside, you HAVE to change and shift things on the inside!

Proverbs 4:23 NCV “Be careful what you think because your thoughts run your life.”

Because you mind is the drawing room for your tomorrow. What happens in your mind will happen in time.

Benjamin Disraeli said, “nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think.”

2. Change your Speaking

The Mouth is the expression of your thoughts. What you are thinking is expressed in what you say and do.

(Proverbs 18:21 NIV) “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

“Words are the guides to acts; the mouth makes the first move”

3. Change your Relationships

When right people enter your life, right things happen. Right people are those who will build you and not tear you down. They are excited about your potential and dreams. They increase you not decrease you.

I Corinthians 15:33 ESV Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals

The opposite is also true: good company corrects bad morals. If you have a bad habit you’re trying to break, seek out the company of good people. Let their “goodness” rub off on you.

(Proverbs 13:20 MSG) “Become wise by walking with the wise; hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces.

4. Pray

Don’t overlook the power of prayer – God Makes Outrageous Promises About What He Does WHEN WE PRAY

Matthew 26:41 ESV – Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Jesus told his disciples to “watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”  When you know temptation is coming your way, you must call upon God for the strength to resist the temptation.  If your spirit is willing but your flesh is weak, you need God’s hand leaning on the scale to help your resistance outweigh the force of habit.  The most potent way for overcoming sinful or bad habits is to ask God for help.

One prayer can change ANYTHING. one prayer can change EVERYTHING

Matthew 7:7-8 ESV “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

John 15:7 ESV – If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

Anything: any thing whatever; something, no matter what: a thing of any kind. in any degree; to any extent; in any way; at all:

•If you want to see Great Results in prayer, then be specific when you ask God for what you want, need, or desire.

5 Gift Ideas for Mom on Mother’s Day

“HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER, THAT YOUR DAYS MAY BE LONG UPON THE LAND WHICH THE LORD YOUR GOD IS GIVING YOU.” (Exodus 20:12)

In celebration of Mother’s Day we cannot help but be reminded that the faith and prayers of mothers can have a profound impact on the lives of their children. Think of some of the great men of the Bible like Moses, Samuel, and Timothy. Where would they have been had it not been for their praying, Spirit-led mothers? As we celebrate our mothers and all they do for us here are a few gift ideas that will let them know how much they really mean to us.

  1. Encouragement: Take a moment to encourage your mother. Thank her for the things she has done for you and your family. Tell her how she has affected your life. Remind her who she is in God’s eyes as well as yours. (1Thes 3:2)
  1. Prayer: Mothers all over the world spend hours in prayer on behalf of their families. Today take some special time to pray for your mother. Lay hands on her and begin to prophecy the promises of God over her. (1Jn 5:14-15)
  1. Time: Rearrange your schedule and make some “mom and me” time today. Take a drive, go for a bite to eat or maybe just spend some time catching up. Let your mother know that your schedule is not too tight to fit her in. (Prov. 23:22)
  1. Celebration: Gather the family together for a special celebration in honor of your mother. Decorate, bring gifts, cook her favorite meal, use the best china ~ go all out to show her how much she means to you. (Prov. 31:28)
  1. Relaxation: Buy mom a new book, candles and bubble bath. Take the kids to the babysitter or out for a couple of hours. Allow mom time to relax and be in comfort, to step away from the busyness of motherhood if only for a moment. (Prov. 29:17)

No man is poor who has had a godly mother!” ~Abraham Lincoln
