Miracles Pt.5 – Immediate Miracles

Miracles Pt.5 – Immediate Miracles

God is able and willing to work miracles in and through any person who has a heart to believe in His unlimited power and unlimited possibilities. Miracles are for YOU today!

Psalm 77:14 NIV – You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

Declaration:

“God wants my life to be full of Miracles. My Life itself is a Miracle. Miracles are happening to me continuously . I wake daily and experience the miracle of living. My miracles are expanding and accelerating. Today I expect and happily receive miracles.”

There is NO such thing as a hopeless situation. Every single circumstance of your life can change.

Miracle – an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs. A supernatural manifestation of divine power in the external world. a spontaneous expression of God’s elemental power.

Acts 10:44 NIV – While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message.

Something IMMEDIATELY happened when they HEARD the WORD OF GOD.

Romans 10:17 ESV So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

If what you hear preached doesn’t cause faith to come and build faith in your spirit, then it either isn’t the Word of God or else you’re not hearing it

1. God’s Word is Everything God is (Miraculous, Spirit, Breath, Life, Presence, Power)

John 1:1-5 NIV – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.

John 6:63 NIV – The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

2 Timothy 3:14-16 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

Inspiration is compound of the words “Theos” (God) and “Pneuma” (Spirit) – God Breathed – Inspiration of God

God’s Word is not the product of elevated human consciousness or enlightened human intellect. This is God breathing HIS very own breath and presence into something.

2. God’s Word has the ability to create, destroy, and perfect

Hebrews 11:3 NIV – By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

•We use words to describe, God uses Words to Create (Genesis 1)

Colossians 1:16 NIV – For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.

Mark 11:12-14, 22-24 NIV12 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. 14 Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it. 22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly[d] I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

•Your Mountain needs to hear God’s Word and Your Voice

By getting God’s Word deep into your spirit and speaking it boldly out your mouth, you release spiritual power to change things in the natural circumstances.

3. God’s Word is Living (All 66 books, 1, 189 Chapters, 31, 273 Verses)

Hebrews 4:12 NLT – For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Isaiah 40:8 NIV – The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.

Matthew 24:35 NIV – Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

I Peter 1:23-25 NIV – For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.24 For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall,25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.”[a] And this is the word that was preached to you.

Abideth – To dwell, To remain, to last

4. God will Perform His Word

•Perform – to carry out an action or pattern of behavior; To begin and carry through to completion;

•Believing God’s word means What God says will come to pass

• Instead of believing what you see – Choose to believe what Jesus said!

Jeremiah 1:12 ESV – Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”

Isaiah 55:8-11 NIV – “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it

Ezekiel 12:28 NIV – Therefore say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: None of my words will be delayed any longer; whatever I say will be fulfilled, declares the Sovereign Lord.’”

Hebrews 10:35-38 ESV – Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. 37 For, “Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay;38 but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.”

5. God’s Word Can Produce Immediate Miracles

•Immediately – without delay

•Quit saying WHEN, and Start saying NOW

•Faith says I have it NOW – Hope says I’ll get it later. Bring your Faith into the NOW Realm.

Hebrews 11:1 KJV “NOW faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Amplified – NOW faith is the assurance (the confirmation, [a]the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

“If you believe”….Numerous times in the Bible we are told that if we only believe THEN God will fulfill His promises. It starts with believing. There is incredible power in belief.

Ephesians 3:20 NKJV – NOW to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

In the Amplified version is says:…His power is able to do superabundantly, far over and above all that we dare ask or think {infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams}

WE can Expect Immediate Miracles

Psalm 31:5 NIV – Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me.

Psalm 69:17 NIV – Do not hide your face from your servant; answer me quickly, for I am in trouble.

Psalm 79:8 NIV – Do not hold against us the sins of past generations; may your mercy come quickly to meet us, for we are in desperate need.

Psalm 102:2 NIV – Do not hide your face from me when I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly.

What has taken time, can begin to happen IMMEDIATELY – We have a right to believe God for Immediate miracles

The Proof of Immediate Miracles

Proof – the establishment of the truth of anything; demonstration. establishes validity

Luke 5:24-25 NIV 24 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 25 Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God.

Acts 14:8-10 NIV In Lystra there sat a man who was lame. He had been that way from birth and had never walked. He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed 10 and called out, “Stand up on your feet!” At that, the man jumped up and began to walk.

Acts 3:1-9 NIV – One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. When all the people saw him walking and praising God,

Mark 5:21-29, 38-42 NIV  When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake. 22 Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. 23 He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” 24 So Jesus went with him. A large crowd followed and pressed around him. 25 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. 26 She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” 29 Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.

38-42- When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. 39 He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.” 40 But they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. 41 He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”). 42 Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished

NOW IS YOUR TIME FOR YOUR MIRACLE

2 Corinthians 6:2 NIV – For he says,“In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.”[a]I tell you, NOW is the time of God’s favor, NOW is the day of salvation

Miracles Pt.3 – The Maker of Miracles

The Maker of Miracles

Mark 6:30 (NIV) 30 The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. 31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” 32 So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. 33 But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. 34 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things. 35 By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. “This is a remote place,” they said, “and it’s already very late. 36 Send the people away so that they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.” 37 But he answered, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “That would take more than half a year’s wages[e]! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?” 38 “How many loaves do you have?” he asked. “Go and see.” When they found out, they said, “Five—and two fish.” 39 Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. 40 So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. 41 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. 42 They all ate and were satisfied, 43 and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. 44 The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.

Jesus Walks on the Water

45 Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. 46 After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.

47 Later that night, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land. 48 He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. Shortly before dawn he went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them, 49 but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, 50 because they all saw him and were terrified.

Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 51 Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. They were completely amazed, 52 for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened.

1. The Ingredients are always in our midst

Jesus can not multiply what we do not recognize

We look at the enormity and magnitude of the problem and we think bc we cant do everything, I’ll do nothing instead of the 1 thing that would activate something but Jesus says; “give me that one thing and I will be able to do miraculous things”

2. The uncounted boy brought the miracle

The bible says 5,000 men (how they counted back in the Biblical times), but if we count women and children it could have bene closer to 15,000 people there.

Jesus says, I might just be able to use that person that everyone has discounted and think they don’t count because then I will get glory for what has been done in their life.

Don’t devalue the smallness of the seed you have.

Matthew 19:26 (NIV)Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

3. Jesus thanked the “not enough”

Change your confession: Bless your “not enough” opposed to cursing it

Luke 6:44-45 44For each tree is known by its own fruit. Indeed, people do not gather figs from thornbushes, or grapes from brambles. 45The good man brings good things out of the good treasure of his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil treasure of his heart. For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.

If you bring your “not enough” into the hands of a God who is “more than enough,” He will do a miracle.

4. The miracle of multiplication didn’t happen until he broke the bread.

The miracle, your blessing, is in the breaking.

God doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies the called.

The enemy tries to steal, kill and destroy your life, but he will weave all the brokenness together and work them out for your good

John 10:10 (NIV) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Genesis 50:20 (NIV) You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

The devil on his best day, didn’t take you out on your worst day.

God can use every broken piece of your past; Your past can help someone’s future.

2 Corinthians 1:4 (MSG) He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us.

5. Jesus told them to gather the 12 baskets full of leftover scraps and he immediately sent them into a storm

Not all storms are from the devil- sometimes God allows us to go into a storm to reveal in us, what is already inside of us or to reveal himself in a new way.

It’s not enough for you to know about His miracle and acts, you must know Him.

Why take the scraps? “take evidence of this miracle today into the storm tomorrow”

Remember: the same God that did that miracle on the mountain is the same God who will take you through this storm

Matthew 16:18 (KJV) And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Let’s never be a church, a person, that just knows the miracles of God but lets be intimately acquainted with the God of miracles.

Miracles Pt.2 – Creating an Atmosphere for Miracles

Miracles Pt. 2 – Creating an Environment for Miracles

Today some will “Get this” and others will “Forget this!” Be the person who Get’s It! (Tap yourself on your head and heart and say, “I’m getting This”)

Psalm 77:14 NIV – You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

God is able and willing to work miracles through any person who has a heart to believe in His unlimited power and unlimited possibilities. Miracles are for YOU today!

John 14:12 NIV – Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

Declaration:“God wants my life to be full of Miracles. My Life itself is a Miracle. Miracles are happening to me continuously . I wake daily and experience the miracle of living. My miracles are expanding and accelerating. Today I expect and happily receive miracles.”

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” Albert Einstein

Miracle – an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs. A supernatural manifestation of divine power in the external world. an event not explicable by natural or scientific laws. a work of God, a spontaneous expression of God’s elemental power.

Our lives should be characterized by the following words: miraculous, wonderful, surprising event, a marvel, phenomenon, supernatural, amazing, extraordinary, astounding, awesome, fabulous incredible, spectacular, wonderworking, unreal, unimaginable, unbelievable.

“A miracle is when the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. A miracle is when one plus one equals a thousand.” Frederick Buechner

Creating the Environment for Miracles

Our expectations for miracles usually need some nurturing, reviving, and strong encouragement.

We can all find a multitude of reasons to become doubtful and discouraged when our answers don’t manifest promptly.

•physical problems, disease, pain and suffering, financial challenges, a crumbling marriage, relationship gone bad, etc…

•Whatever is in your face, turn NOW and face God with these seeming impossibilities. Turn your fear into faith and unbelief into believing. Create it in your heart and mind and then move it into your room, home, apartment, car, workplace, etc.. create the atmosphere!

“Faith does not operate in the realm of the possible. There is no glory for God in that which is humanly possible. Faith begins where man’s power ends.” George Muller

1. Believe and Expect Miracles are Possible

GK Chesterton said, The most incredible thing about miracles is that they happen.”

Mark 11:22-24 ESV – 22 And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. 23 Truly, I say to you, whoever SAYS to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received[a] it, and it will be yours.

Stop only believing in the possible! Believe in the impossible! You have to believe things as you would have them be, instead as they are.

For every Mountain there is a Miracle!

If you believe there is a God with the power to make mountains, then you must necessarily believe He also has the power to move mountains.

Expectation – is to have a strong desire and be filled with anticipation and confidence in obtaining what is hoped for and expected

Expectation Believes 1. What God says will come to pass and 2. What I say will come to pass

•Expectation sees the invisible, believes the incredible, and receives the impossible

•Expectation is not believing that God can but that God will!

•Expectation is believing in things when common sense tells you not to

•Expectation is the KEY that releases the resources of God into our situation

The Law of Belief states, “What  person believes in their heart with conviction becomes their reality.

Mark 9:23 ESV – 23 And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.”

The Law of Expectations says that, basically, we get what we expect out of life.

“I am realistic – I expect miracles.” Wayne W. Dyer

Don’t allow anyone else’s limiting beliefs become yours – The only limits you have are the limits you believe. Be limitless by believing in the impossible.

•Start believing impossible things are possible – You will get what you expect!

Instead of believing what I see – I choose to believe what Jesus said!

So Don’t limit God down to the size of our brain

Ephesians 3:20 NKJV – Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

In the Amplified version is says:…His power is able to do superabundantly, far over and above all that we dare ask or think {infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams}

Expectations matter! You don’t get what you deserve you get what you EXPECT.

“Miracles are like pimples, because once you start looking for them you find more than you ever dreamed you’d see.”  Lemony Snicket, The Lump of Coal

2. Don’t be Afraid to ASK God for Miracles

Matthew 7:7-8 ESV – 7 “Ask (Not whine or complain), and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

Ask – to want or desire something, to inquire, to request, to crave, to call for, to demand.”

Remember – Life will pay any price you ask for.

John 14:12-14 ESV – 12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me[a] anything in my name, I will do it.

John 15:7 ESV – If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

Anything: any thing whatever; something, no matter what: a thing of any kind. in any degree; to any extent; in any way; at all:

•If you want to see Extraordinary Results in prayer, then be specific when you ask God for what you want, need, or desire. Clarity is the key.

If you are not clear, Faith cannot bring you what you want, need, or desire. a mixed frequency with your asking may produce no results. Get SPECIFIC with God and ASK Him.

Reasons come first Answers come second – WHY do you want what you want?

James 4:2 ESV – 2 You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.

-In other words, we try everything else but Prayer. Go ahead, I dare you! ASK GOD!

I John 5:14-15 ESV – 14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

•Amplified – 14 And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us.15 And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him.

Matthew 21:22, Whatsoever you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.

•“Whatever & Anything” is an Extraordinary promise. What is your Anything?

Job 22:28 NKJV – You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.

-NIV – What you decide on will be done,

-NLT – You will succeed in whatever you choose to do

-MSG – You’ll decide what you want and it will happen;

•Expectation says You must know what you want is yours the moment you ask! not after you pray, not when you feel something, not when you see something. The moment you pray believe you receive!

If you can believe it in your heart, you’re going to hold it in your hand.

The Prayer of Agreement

Matthew 18:19-20 NIV – “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

The word that Jesus used for “agree” in the above verse literally means “to stipulate (demand) by contract, to arrange definitively by covenant.”

Therefore, when Jesus said “If two of you shall agree,” He was actually saying, “If two of you will stipulate (place a demand upon) our arranged contract or covenant… ”

Prayer of expectation: Lord I believe You are good and You desire to release into my life wonderful, unimaginable, miraculous, great, and mighty things. I believe in miracles. I expect miracles. I receive miracles. Today I pray with large expectations by the power of the Holy Spirit. Enlarge my vision. Change my circumstance. Heal my body. Meet my need. Increase my faith. Secure my future. In Jesus Name. Amen!

Miracles Pt.1 – The Miracle of Heaven

Miracles Pt.1 – The Miracle of Heaven

Very excited about this series – Inspire your faith – Believe God for miracles – We believe that God still does miracles today

Jesus did some incredible things during His life on earth

Turned water to wine – blind man sees – raised the dead – healed the sick

We believe that God is still in the miracle business – We are a Church that believes in it

Of all the miracles the resurrection of Jesus is the greatest – We don’t serve a God who is dead but alive

(Romans 8:11 NLT)  The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. (Same power lives in you & works in you – wherever there is death or a place you need a miracle) And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

  • We can not only celebrate the resurrection, we can also experience it.

You are candidate for God to do something powerful in your life

Jesus at this point in ministry needed others to help, crowds were so big

Not just 12 but commissioned 72

(Luke 10:17-20) The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

Resurrection can happen in your marriages, families, finances, jobs, dreams But that is not the greatest

The greatest resurrection isn’t the resurrection of things

It’s the resurrection that we leave this pain on earth & eternally with God

Jesus died & rose again – One out of one person is going to die

Be more positive – I’m positive and I am positive that will happen

The hope we have & why earth doesn’t sting as much – We know there is more to life than this

Examples: Jesus said don’t be afraid of the one who can kill your body

All of us are – We’re careful, lock our doors, wear seatbelts, get insurance, eat right, exercise, – Trying to make this body last

God is saying do all that but don’t be afraid of the one who can kill your body – Be afraid of the one who can destroy body & soul

If you would put some of the energy you put into your temporal body

Into your eternal existence you would be doing a lot better

Real way to look at life is you are a blip on the screen compared to eternity

Life is a mist it’s here then gone (David said teach me to # my days) – Those miracles are great but God is wanting us to focus on eternity

Second example: Disciples of Jesus struggling – about Jesus leaving

(John 14:1-2 NIV) “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. (They brought an earth problem & Jesus talks about Heaven) My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?

Don’t be discouraged you’re getting out of here

  • Jesus offers more than a better now. He offers a better place.

When you have that hope it changes everything about how you live on earth

1 CORINTHIANS 2:9 NIV However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him”

Pope Francis said, Hope helps believers to be open to the surprises God has in store for us.

(John 11:25-26 NIV) “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

•Death does not conquer you, Death does not defeat you

Scripture says where oh death is your victory & where oh death is your sting

•It never stings those who have the hope of Heaven – Even though you die you will live – We’ve passed from Death unto life.

•I am reminding you – a lot of us are feeling the sting of earth – Seems like things are getting worse

•In the middle of what we are facing – God can intervene. There is a resurrection available to us through Christ

Story: The generations before us had this hope / reminding my church I grew up in Jewett Oh.  I remember the songs being about Heaven

Favorite songs: When we all get to Heaven, “I’ll Fly Away….” What a Day that will be, Oh I want to see him, In the Sweet by and by,  Soon and Very Soon….

•That hope is what held them on – Jesus is saying this Easter, I died & rose again so you can have that experience

1 Peter 1:3-4 (Mes) “What a God we have! … Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven, and the future starts now!”

It’s the ultimate resurrection – We want miracles on earth but the greatest miracle is Heaven

(1st Thessalonians 4:13-18 NIV) Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again, (We don’t feel the sting of death because Jesus conquered death) and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him…Therefore encourage each other with these words.

Revelation 21:1-4 NIV Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

•Live your life for others – People need hope – Hope changes everything

Everyone is going through something – that’s earth/life – We can join in prayer on earth & see the miraculous happen

If it doesn’t work out here on earth & you have the hope of eternal life

You have the ultimate resurrection & nothing can ever defeat you

My message for you church…Summarized in this statement

  • Believe on Jesus…

Earth is as close to hell as you’ll ever get.

It only gets better.

The opposite is true – If you haven’t believed on Jesus yet…

Earth is as close to Heaven as you’ll ever get – It only gets worse

Colossians 3:2 NIV–“Set you mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.”

C.S. Lewis said, “ If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world”

•He also said – “Has this world been so kind to you that you should leave with regret?  There are better things ahead than any we leave behind.”

I would say to you – This is an opportunity to change your heart – It’s getting hope. How?

(1st John 5:13 ASV) These things have I written unto you, that you may know that you have eternal life, believe on the name of the Son of God.

God wants way more than just believing in Him but believe on Him

What’s the difference?

Story: Charles Blondin French Tightrope walker walked 1,100 feet suspended on a tiny rope 160 feet above the raging waters of Niagra Falls several times back and forth between Canada and the United States as huge crowds on both sides looked on with shock and awe.  Once he crossed in a sack, once on stilts, another time on a bicycle,  one blind folded, and once he even carried a stove and cooked an omelet!  Then he pushed a wheelbarrow. It was then that Blondin posed the question – “Who will get in the wheelbarrow?’ Of course…none did. The crowd had watched his daring feats. They said they believed, but their actions proved they truly didn’t.

It’s one thing for us to say we believe in God. It’s true faith though when we believe God and put our faith and trust in His Son, Jesus Christ.

Faith in God is the same way – Just can’t believe he did it

God is looking for us to take another step

Not Belief in is not enough but Belief on

That’s faith / it’s taking a risk

(2 Peter 3:13-14 NIV) “But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.

The Invitation

Brennan Manning said, “For me the most radical demand of Christian faith lies in summoning the courage to say yes to the present risenness of Jesus Christ.”

•The good news is not that Jesus Christ lived and died, but that he lived, died, and he lives.

Ask that for the next 3 minutes (music begins playing) No one move or distract others – Very important moment

If you’d say, “Rob, I need God to rescue me.  I need a real relationship with God.”  You check B – I’m believing today – I need a fresh start Check B – I’m beginning a real relationship with God today.

If you’d say, “Rob, it sounds good but I’d like to consider it a little bit more first. I’d like to check it out.” I’d appreciate you checking C – I’d like to consider what God wants to do in my life.

Daring Faith Pt.6 – What Happens When You Have Faith

Romans 1:17 NIV “The Gospel shows us how God makes people right with himself – that it begins and ends with FAITH. The Scripture says those who are right with God will live by trusting in Him.”

Hebrews 11:6 NIVWithout faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes  to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

BIG Q:  WHAT IS FAITH?

NOT DESIRE – you can wish, and hope, and pray, and sincerely want something with all of your heart, but…..Desire may lead you to faith, but it is not faith.

NOT PRETENDING  TO BELIEVE A LIEFaith is always based upon the truth.  It is based on facts. How do you know the truth?  GOD’S WORD . Not  conning yourself into believing something that isn’t true.

NOT A FEELING – in fact, feelings OFTEN get in the way of faith.  Faith moves ahead even when my feelings  say “don’t!”

NOT BARGAINING WITH GOD “Lord, if you’ll do this, I’ll do that”  God never bends to pressure tactics.

Hebrews 11:1 NLT – “What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for IS going to happen and to be certain of things we do not yet see.”

•Agree? More than 1 way to look at things!

Ephesians 1:18 NLT I pray that the eyes of your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can see the wonderful future God has promised to those he called.”

Song – “Open the eyes of My Heart” “Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus” Meaning?   There is an unseen dimension

•Bible – many examples where God opened people’s eyes

•In life-always looking  at you future… in faith or fear – family… problems…career…health

2nd Question: What happens when we see with eyes of fear/faith?

Example: Numbers 13+14 – Moses had led the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt

– 2 years wandering – wilderness.

– Came to Kadesh -edge of Promise Land

– 12 spies selected to go see… A VISION TRIP for fact finding & due diligence

– Returned with 2 reports:  10-neg. /  2-pos.  The people Accepted the majority report

Because they failed to see with eyes of faith:

– lost opportunity to possess the Prom. Land!

– spent next 38 yrs wandering!  Entire generation died in the desert!

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE SEE WITH EYES OF FEAR?

1. We EXAGGERATE OUR DIFFICULTIES.

Amazing-God had just delivered them from Egypt-most powerful…Now worried about some local tribe!   How quickly we forget!

Fact: When you look at your problems w/eyes of fear — BIGGER!

Numbers. 13:27-32 NLT – 27 This was their report to Moses: “We entered the land you sent us to explore, and it is indeed a bountiful country—a land flowing with milk and honey. Here is the kind of fruit it produces. 28 But the people living there are powerful, and their towns are large and fortified. We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak! 29 The Amalekites live in the Negev, and the Hittites, Jebusites, and Amorites live in the hill country. The Canaanites live along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea[a] and along the Jordan Valley.”30 But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!”31 But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!” 32 So they spread this bad report about the land among the Israelites: “The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge.

-DEVOUR – eat up  “Eat our lunch!”  Cannibals!

-Giants –Nepheelim – bullies, tyrants.. NFL linebackers

Only 2 of the spies had faith. Joshua & Caleb: God is with us!

-People who trust God are always in the minority.

– Always more worriers… naysayers… fretful…fearful.. negative

Problem: negative attitudes are contagious!

How Ironic: 38 yrs later-finally…Enemy said: “ We’ve lived panic of  you for 40 yrs!  Heard about Egypt-10 plagues.  Ready to surrender!

2. We underestimate OUR ABILILTIES.

Numbers 13:33 NLT –We even saw giants[a] there, the descendants of Anak. Next to them we felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought, too!”

Talk about low self-esteem! We’re insects! “They will eat us for lunch!” “cant do it!” (Quit talking about what you can’t do)

That’s what they thought too” –we project our fears on others

Problem: been slaves-400 yrs.  Tho free – still mentally enslaved conditioned: Still saw selves as helpless!   Enslaved by an idea!

– Yrs ago-people said hurtful things about you Maybe labeled:  “You’re stupid… a failure …ugly …uncoordinated

Those people aren’t around anymore-yet you’re still believing it!

ILL: Spies saw some tall people: “giants!” Later: the tall people weren’t even warriors! PERSPECTIVE is what defeats us! (I Jn 4:4)

3. We EVENTUALLY GRIPE, GIVE UP & BLAME GOD!

Numbers 14:1-3 NLT – Then the whole community began weeping aloud, and they cried all night. Their voices rose in a great chorus of protest against Moses and Aaron. “If only we had died in Egypt, or even here in the wilderness!” they complained. “Why is the Lord taking us to this country only to have us die in battle? Our wives and our little ones will be carried off as plunder! Wouldn’t it be better for us to return to Egypt?”

Held a giant pity party!  Poor us!

•Some people all they talk about is where they’ve been

•Second guessing… Good ol days in Egypt. Had so much fun there! Slavery but safety! You can deny responsibility if a slave!

•Some of you are confusing slavery with safety!

“I know it’s a bad situation but at least it’s predictable”

“I know  this habit is self-defeating- but comfortable”

There is no real freedom without taking risks!  Takes faith! If you feel you’ve been wandering in circles- Don’t die in the desert!  Move ahead in faith!

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE SEE WITH EYES OF FAITH?

1. FAITH SHRINKS MY PROBLEMS

Faith gives you a new perspective – When you see problems from God’s point of view, they seem more manageable

ILL: When you give your problem to the Lord and then trust Him to work it out, you stop worrying.

•How will it be solved?  THAT’S GOD’S PROBLEM!

Genesis 18:14 NLT “Is anything too hard for the Lord?”

•Ignoring the Giants (Problems) is not what made their reports good or evil.

•You are not admitting doubt when you recognize a problem – Faith is never ignoring the obvious.

•Faith says We are well able to overcome the Giants! Faith says you ought to see the size of these Grapes!

Luke 1:37 ESV “For nothing will be impossible with God!”

With Faith, the 2 Spies were Giant Killers and Grape Tasters and the 10 other spies were Grasshoppers. Which will you be?

•Grasshoppers major on problems and obstacles. Giant Killers & Grapetasters focus on the possibilities and opportunities.

2. FAITH OPENS THE DOOR FOR A MIRACLE

It can move mountains. Throughout history, everytime God did a miracle…

Mark 11:22-24 NIV – Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly[a] I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

God has set up the universe so that the law of faith Is the only law that supersedes the laws if nature.  That’s miracle!

Faith is a spiritual force based on the eternal laws of God that can change things in the natural.

*Does God still perform miracles today? Of course he does!  (Financial, family, personal, etc.)

*What is your mountain that needs to be moved today?God is in the mountain-moving business,

BUT   – MUST NOT DOUBT!

Matthew 13:58 NIV “And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.

3. FAITH MOVES GOD TO ACT ON MY BEHALF

Now don’t get me wrong, God is neither a servant nor a slot machine.  He is not there to cater to your every whim

Matthew 9:29 NLT –  Then he touched their eyes and said, “Because of your faith, it will happen.”

God does not bow to pressure or bargaining but he loves to answer requests made in genuine faith.

I John 5:14-15 ESV 14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

•Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible, and receives the impossible

•Faith is not believing that God can but that God will!

2 Corinthians 1:20 NIV – For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.

•Faith is the KEY that releases the resources of God into our situation

God Makes Outrageous Promises About What He Does WHEN WE HAVE DARING FAITH

John 14:12-14 ESV 12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me[a] anything in my name, I will do it.

John 15:7 ESV – If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

John 3:16-18 MSG – “This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.

“Just because you don’t get everything you want when you want it, Should NEVER stop you from having Daring Faith and Trust in God”
