How To Radically Improve Your Life Pt.2: The Master Key To All the Treasures of Life

How To Radically Improve Your Life Pt. 2 – The Master Key To All the Treasures of Life

One day Charlie Brown  came home with his report card. As he turned on the TV, his sister Lucy scoffed at his grade: “You got a “C” in history? That’s only average.” Charlie Brown  defended himself: “So what? I’m an average student in an average school in an average community. What’s wrong with being average?” Lucy retorted, “Because you’re capable of doing much better.”

How many of us settle for just average?

Improvement isn’t automatic. You’re only young once, but you can be ignorant indefinitely. Each year the lobster is forced to shed its shell; it’s a pity we aren’t! Come on, if you don’t make personal growth and improvement your responsibility it’ll never happen. The road to anything worthwhile is always uphill, so the sooner you start climbing the closer to reaching your God-ordained potential you’ll be.

Personal growth and improvement is our responsibility.

“For things to change, you have to change. For things to get better, you have to get better. For things to improve, you have to improve. When you grow, everything in your life grows with you.” Jim Rohn

When you improve yourself you improve your life, your relationships, and your finances

Improve – the act or process of making something better; increased value or excellence; advance, development, upgrade, refinement, renovation, enhancement, advancement, upgrading, betterment

•To make radical improvements in you life, you need either inspiration or desperation

•Sad thing is 95% of our society settles for far less than they want in this life, wishing they had more, living with regret, and never understanding that they could be, do, and have MORE our of life – Im here to Inspire you today to radically improve your life.

•••A young man asked the old man, “What’s the secret of your success?” Good decisions, he replied. How do you learn to make good decisions? You get that by experience. How do you get experience? By making bad decisions.

Your life will get better when you get better!

Wisdom – knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action; sagacity, discernment, or insight.

The Hebrew word means “Skilled in Living” – To know what to do with what you know is the essence of wisdom.  The Law of God applied accurately to your life to solve problems.

Proverbs 4:5-8 AMP – Get skillful and godly Wisdom, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation); do not forget and do not turn back from the words of my mouth.Forsake not [Wisdom], and she will keep, defend, and protect you; love her, and she will guard you. The beginning of Wisdom is: get Wisdom (skillful and godly Wisdom)! [For skillful and godly Wisdom is the principal thing.] And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation). Prize Wisdom highly and exalt her, and she will exalt and promote you; she will bring you to honor when you embrace her.

We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid. – Benjamin Franklin

Today there is Lots of Knowledge, but little understanding. Lots of means, but little meaning. Lots of know how, but little know why. Lots of sight, but little of insight.

Can you think of anything worse than living a life devoid of growth and improvement?

1. Wisdom is the Master Key to All the Treasures of Life

Treasure – wealth, rich materials, or valuable things. any thing or person greatly valued or highly prized: to value, esteem.

2 Chronicles 1:10-12 NIV10 Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?”11 God said to Solomon, “Since this is your heart’s desire and you have not asked for wealth, possessions or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, 12 therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, possessions and honor, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have.”

•Solomon born around 974 BC. Installed as King at 12 yrs old. Richest Man who ever lived. (Trillioinaire) Why? He asked for Wisdom.

Proverbs 8:11 NIV – for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.

•Highest quality ruby= 10x more valuable than a top diamond – 1 gram of gold= $50 – 1 gram precious ruby=$50,000!

•Gold reserves worth hundreds of billions of dollars. 4000 stalls for his horses and chariots. 12,000 horseman on his payroll. Ruler of nations sought his advice and paid him for it.

Proverbs 16:16 NIV – How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!

If God offered you 1 Thing what would it be?

Proverbs 2:1-4 NIV – My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, 2  turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—3 indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, 4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,

You always INVEST in what you find Valuable. Invest in Wisdom!

“If you think investing in yourself is expensive, you should try ignorance”

Proverbs 1:5 NIV – let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance

Don’t be a know it all~ Be a learn it all~! Don’t bankrupt your mind~

Warren Buffet said the most important investment you can make is in yourself.

The greatest value in life is not what you get but what you become! When you improve yourself you improve your life!

•••Buy the books, Go to the seminars, Continue to learn, purchase the audios and videos – GROW GROW GROW!

•Is the products worth it? I don’t know but YOU ARE!~ (money i’ve spent on personal & spiritual development)

A university study done a few years ago found that almost one-third of all physicians were so busy working, they were 2 years behind in the latest developments in their field. Heaven help their patients! If you want to be a continual learner, you must carve out time to do it! Henry Ford said, “It’s been my observation that successful people get ahead during the time other people waste.” Never leave your Bible, books (kindle), podcasts when you travel. Seize every opportunity to keep growing. The secret to becoming a learner – is to learn something new every day! Listen, “Get understanding. Esteem her and she will exalt you.”

Proverbs 22:17-18 NLT – Listen to the words of the wise; apply your heart to my instruction.18  For it is good to keep these sayings in your heart and always ready on your lips.

Coach John Wooden once said, “What counts, is what you learn after you know it all.” That’s because the more you learn, the less you think you have to learn.

You are never too old to learn to be wise! If you’re alive…You are never too young

2. A Proverb a Day Builds Wisdom

In my estimation, of the Bible’s 66 Books, Proverbs is the most provocative. If it’s true that good judgement is caught, not taught, then Proverbs drops pearls. More than 2 dozen centuries before Sigmund Freud and Psychological profiling, this set of 31 chapters outstrips human understanding with insights into sex, anger management, slander, wealth, m welfare, business ethics, intoxication, pride, and subtle human fissures as relevant as today and tomorrows blogs.

Read,, meditate, and memorize God’s Word daily

Proverbs 2:6-7 NIV – For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,

Proverbs 1:7 NIV – The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools[a] despise wisdom and instruction

“People do not reject the Bible because it contradicts itself but because it contradicts them.”

Mark Twain said, “It ain’t the those parts of the Bible that I can’t understand that bother me, it is the parts that I do understand.”

Proverbs 15:14 NLT – A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash.

3. Right relationships Increase your Wisdom

Proverbs 13:20 NIV – Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.

Dr. Carl Menger said, “Our environment shapes us more than our heredity”

I Corinthians 15:33 NIV – Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

Proverbs 12:15 NIV – The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.

Relationships will either propel you or sustain you. People are like elevators they take you up or bring you down. So wrong relationships are thieves to your success

Pursue Wise Relationships: Those who build your faith and confidence, value who you are, challenge you to greatness, and are there when down and when your up.

Proverbs 11:14 AMP – Where there is no [wise, intelligent] guidance, the people fall [and go off course like a ship without a helm], But in the abundance of [wise and godly] counselors there is victory.

Run from Foolish relationships: those who are critical then complimentary, those who belittle you and your dreams, those who humiliate and embarrass you, those who gossip, bicker, and backbite you.

•Have the ability to disconnect from unqualified people who decrease your life.

4. When you Increase Your Wisdom You Will Increase Your Wealth

Proverbs 8:18, 21 NIV – With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity. 21 bestowing a rich inheritance on those who love me and making their treasuries full.

“Empty the money of your wallet into your mind and your mind will fill your wallet with money” Ben Franklin

Warren Buffet said the most important investment you can make is in yourself.

Psalm 112:1-3 NIV – Praise the Lord.[b] Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands. Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever.

Proverbs 3:16 NIV – Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.

NOW DO IT!

Proverbs 4:20-22 NLT – My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. 21 Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, 22 for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.

Don’t let wisdom just  lead to knowledge – let it lead to action!

The way to get to the top is to get off your bottom.

James 1:22-25 NLT – But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

Solomon tells us throughout Proverbs to seek wisdom as if it were hidden treasure. True wisdom is rarely found lying on the ground in plain view. Rather, it’s a treasure that just be searched out, and those seeking it must often dig beneath the surface. But it’s not a difficult pursuit. It’s fun to search for buried treasure, and its wonderfully rewarding to find it.

You can grow old- without ever growing up! WISDOM IS A CHOICE… GROWTH … Happiness…. Success…

Are you going to DO anything about what we just talked about? If not, you just wasted an hour.

God doesn’t bless good intentions. He blesses WISE CHOICE – GOD SAYS  IT’S YOUR MOVE!   YOUR CHOICE – Will you do the wise thing?

Believers Guide to the Election

Believer-TitleBy Daniel Lewis

Presidential Election

  • Here we are 93 days before the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election
  • To elect the 45th President of the United States of America
  • It’s everywhere you turn!

We live in an amazing time and have the privilege of voting for the next leader of this great country. So how then should we, as believer approach this election?

Let’s see what the bible says about Government, Leaders and Authorities…

We’re going to look at 5 Major questions…

  1. Who really chooses the President?
  2. Does your vote matter?
  3. Can it be Gods will for an unbeliever to lead?
  4. Can it be Gods will for a woman to lead?
  5. How do we know we are voting for Gods person?

But first, let’s look at some of the Governments and Authorities that existed in the bible.

Governments in the Bible

Theocracy: God as King

  • Patriarchs: Adam, Abraham
  • Prime Ministers: Joseph
  • Tribes/Clans: 12 tribes of Israel
  • Prophets: Moses
  • Judges: Gideon, Samson, Samuel and Others…

Monarchy: Man as King

United Kingdom

Divided Kingdom

  • Kings:
    • Saul
    • David
    • Solomon

  • Israel (19 Kings)
    • All Bad Kings
    • Destroyed by the Assyrians
  • Judah (20 Kings)
    • 8 Good Kings
    • 12 Bad Kings
    • Exiled into Babylon
    • Return to their land
    • Became occupied by the Romans

Monarchy didn’t work out so well for the people of God. But, as usual God had a plan of redemption for his people.

Isaiah 9:6-7

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

A New Government

The Invisible Kingdom

God chose to send his son into the earth in a time when Gods people were under occupation from the Romans.

Mark 1:15  (NIV)

15 “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

Luke 17:20 (NIV)

20 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation;21 nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.

Many people were expecting God to bring them a King who would save them from the Romans.

God had something way bigger in mind.

  • To save them their sins
  • To restore relationship with their Creator (the Father)
  • To give them eternal life

Col 1:13-14

13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

There is also a Kingdom of Darkness which we will discuss later.

Philippians 2:8-11

8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Who then are we subject to?

We are subject first and foremost to God but notice that God did not abolish earthly authorities.

We are still subject to the earthly authorities

Colossians 1:15-18

15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.

Romans 13:1-2

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

Who then do we obey?

Both. If any earthly authority tries to cause you to sin, then you should obey God.

See: Daniel 3 – Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego refused to bow.

The United States of America

We’ve talked about Theocracy and Monarchy. But what form of government do we live in?

Democracy

Definition: a form of government in which people choose leaders by voting (Merriam-Webster)

Democracy is a form of Government by which leaders are elected (generally by popular majority). Democracy is not perfect. The fact that the majority believes something does not necessarily mean it is good or right.

Sometimes the majority is not necessarily right…

A lone man refusing to do the Nazi salute, 1936

Winston Churchill once commented…

“Many forms of Government have been tried and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.”

The First Amendment

In the United States we have some amazing freedoms, many of which are found in the 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

These are amazing freedoms which protect us!

  • The freedom of speech – without this we could not share the good news without fear
  • The freedom of religion – many nations prohibit or limit particular faiths
  • The freedom of the press – we are free to print the good news
  • The right for peaceful assembly – we are free to be here today without interference
  • To petition the Government – free to obtain justice over these rights

Somebody, say “God bless America!”

We must remember that the same laws that protect us, also protect others who participate in a different religion or who have a different world view.

What have we established so far?

  • We are now subjects of an eternal Kingdom
  • The King of Kings has left earthly authorities in place
  • There is no authority except which God has established
  • In our democracy, we the people elect our leader
  • ….So, if it is God who establishes the authorities then…

5 Major Questions

1. Who really chooses the President?

God Is Sovereign over all Creation

King Nebuchadnezzar

Daniel 4:28-32

28 All this happened to King Nebuchadnezzar. 29 Twelve months later, as the king was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon, 30 he said, “Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?”

31 Even as the words were on his lips, a voice came from heaven, “This is what is decreed for you, King Nebuchadnezzar: Your royal authority has been taken from you. 32 You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like the ox. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes.”

God also respects the will of the people

Let’s look at how Gods nation switched from a Theocracy to a Monarchy.

1 Samuel 8:6-7

6 But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. 7 And the Lord told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king.

God warns the people of what this will mean…

  • Taxes
  • Conscription
  • Giving up land

1 Samuel 8:19-22

19 But the people refused to listen to Samuel. “No!” they said. “We want a king over us. 20 Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.”

21 When Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated it before the Lord. 22 The Lord answered, “Listen to them and give them a king.”

God allowed the people to go their own way. He respects free will.

2. Does your vote matter?

Absolutely! The systems we are in allow us the freedom to vote according to our beliefs.

Coming from a nation (Australia) that has as high as over 90% voter turn-out. In my humble opinion, I believe that believers should exercise the right to vote.

God respects the will of the people so we should make sure we are heard. Every vote counts.

3. Can it be Gods will for an unbeliever to lead?

King Cyrus

150 years before he would free Gods people from Exile.

Isaiah 44:24

Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer…

26b Who says to Jerusalem, ‘You shall be inhabited,’ To the cities of Judah, ‘You shall be built,’ And I will raise up her waste places; 27 Who says to the deep, ‘Be dry! And I will dry up your rivers’; 28 Who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd, And he shall perform all My pleasure, Saying to Jerusalem, “You shall be built,” And to the temple, “Your foundation shall be laid.”’

Isaiah is prophesying the return of His people from exile and rebuilding of Jerusalem.

Isaiah 45

“Thus says the Lord to His anointed, To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held—To subdue nations before him and loose the armor of kings, To open before him the double doors, So that the gates will not be shut: 2 ‘I will go before you And make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze And cut the bars of iron. 3 I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden riches of secret places, That you may know that I, the Lord, Who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel. For Jacob My servant’s sake, And Israel My elect, I have even called you by your name; I have named you, though you have not known Me.

Therefore, it can be Gods will for an unbeliever to lead on behalf of His people.

4. Can it be Gods will for a Woman to lead?

Deborah

Judges 4:4

Now Deborah, a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time. 5 She held court under the Palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites went up to her to have their disputes decided.

5. How do we know we are voting for Gods person?

Politicians and Journalists rank as some of the least trusted professions in this county.

Are we to take people at their word alone?

Jesus spoke of the parable of two Sons:

Matthew 21:28-30

28 “What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’ 29 “‘I will not,’ he answered, but later he changed his mind and went. 30 “Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, ‘I will, sir,’ but he did not go. 31 “Which of the two did what his father wanted?”

Some candidates will promise things they won’t do. Others may do things that they have not promised to do.

Tips for Surviving the Election

1 Thessalonians 5

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt 21 but test them all; hold on to what is good, 22 reject every kind of evil.

Let’s unpack this verse…

1. Rejoice always

Don’t let the news get you down.

Have faith and praise God. He is still on the throne!

2. Pray continually

God is sovereign but he still needs us to Pray!

Remember the Kingdom of Darkness…

Daniel 10:12

12 Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. 13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. 14 Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come.”

Be persistent in prayer. Your prayers will shift the heavens! Why else would God have said…

Matthew 6:9-13

9 “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’

2 Chronicles 7:14

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

3. Give thanks in all circumstances

No matter who wins this election, give thanks to God and pray for your leaders! (1 Tim 2)

4. Do not quench the Spirit

The Holy Spirit will give you Gods perspective.

1 Cor 2:15-16

15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16 for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

  1. Take your directions from the Holy Spirit
  2. Not Facebook, Twitter, Fox News or CNN

You may be surprised at what God might reveal to you!

Example

Could it be possible that God wants Muslim refugees to come to this nation to hear the gospel and be saved?

Here are some issues that I believe should matter to all believers:

  • Continued Freedom (Speech, Religion, Press, Assembly)
  • Justice
  • Against racism
  • Protecting the innocent
  • Compassion for the poor and needy
  • Equality
  • National security
  • Peace and Prosperity of the Nation

Jeremiah 29:7

7 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”

5. Do not treat prophesies with contempt, but test them all…

There are still prophets and yes, God does still speak to them!

Amos 3:7

Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.

Test them. Do they align with the word of God?

Other Tips

1. Avoid Arguments

Do we really achieve anything by arguing with people on Facebook?

  • Find common ground!
  • If you feel your brother or sister is in error then pray for them rather than arguing.

2. Be “Unoffendable”

Love your enemy, pray for those who mistreat you

3. Compromise

You may not agree with all of the policies of your candidate or party.

4. Vote!

Extraordinary Pt.1

ExtraOrdinary

Ephesians 2:10 AMP –  For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].

I love and have a deep appreciation for the arts, painting, music, and literature – Tricia and I had the privilege to visit the Museum of Modern Art last week in Manhattan  – Jackson Pollock is a favorite artist of mine, was able to see some of his original masterpieces.

We Belong to God who Made us Extraordinary

I Peter 2:9 NIV –  But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Quote – I John 4:4

The difference between ordinary and extraordinary in many cases is a small difference. Meaning, it only takes a slight shift, a little more effort, or changing your paradigm but using the same effort. Seeking answers toward advancing our lives is a natural human occurrence, however receiving consistent answers seems to elude many of us. Unfortunately some of us yield to unChristian means, even illegal means, to find answers; others make a decision to make necessary lifestyle changes to become…

Extraordinary – beyond unusual, exceptional, amazing, astonishing, astounding, sensational, stunning, incredible, unbelievable, phenomenal; or remarkable. (1) a very special thing (2) something ordinary with something extra

What is the difference between ordinary and Extra-ordinary is the word EXTRA – which is additional…beyond what is usual

“Extraordinary achievers choose what losers won’t and pay the price that others don’t.”

Luke 2:52 ESV – And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature[a] and in favor with God and man.

Increase – become or make greater in size, strength, quality, amount, intensity, or degree.

God wants YOU to increase in every area of your life and be Extraordinary!

Do dogs like bones? I don’t think so. I think they like steaks and but they settle for bones.  We settle for less than what God has for us! God has so much more!

Don’t settle for Average, Common, or Everyday.

Deuteronomy 1:11 NLT – And may the Lord, the God of your ancestors, multiply you a thousand times more and bless you as he promised!

Psalm 115:14-15 ESV – May the Lord give you increase, you and your children! 15  May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth!

The desire for increase and more is not a wrong desire. It comes from God (be fruitful & multiply..)

Jesus intended for you to have an Extraordinary Life

John 10:10 ESV – The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

Abundant – existing or available in large quantities; plentiful. profuse, rich, lavish, abounding, liberal, generous, bountiful, large, huge, great, paramount, overflowing, prolific

Back to our text Luke 2:52 ESV – And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature[a] and in favor with God and man.

Being Extraordinary is not automatic

•You’re only young once, but you can be immature indefinitely. Personal growth and increase is our responsibility.

•When you were a child your parents were responsible for your growth, now you are! Robert Browning wrote, “Why stay we on earth except to grow?” That is a great question yet few of us dedicate ourselves to the process. Why? Because growth requires CHANGE and most of us are uncomfortable with change.

“If we don’t change we won’t grow, and if we don’t grow we’re not really living” Gail Sheehy

The person on top of the mountain didn’t fall there.

Ask yourself these questions and then listen seriously to the answers:

•What do I really want?

•What will it cost?

•Am I willing to pay the price?

•When should I start paying the price?

If you don’t answer the last question and make a commitment to a start date

Jesus increased with

I. Wisdom

Definition – knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action; sagacity, discernment, or insight.

•We need to KNOW more than what we already know. The difference to where I am and where I want to be is what I need to know.

1. Cultivate a Teachable Attitude

Proverbs 1:5 NIV – let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance

Proverbs 22:17-18 NIV – Pay attention and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach,18  for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips.

Don’t be a know it all~ Be a learn it all~! Don’t bankrupt your mind~

2. Invest in yourself

2 Timothy 2:15 AMP – Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.

“Empty the money of your wallet into your mind and your mind will fill your wallet with money” Ben Franklin

The greatest value in life is not what you get but what you become! When you improve yourself you improve your life!

When you learn, you become more than you are, and then you get more than you got

It’s what you become that adds value in your life that brings – promotion, success, raise, benefits, blessing, etc…

•••Buy the books, Go to the seminars, purchase the audios and videos – GROW GROW GROW!

•Is the products worth it? I don’t know but I AM!~ (money i’ve spent on personal development)

•You always INVEST in what you find Valuable. Invest in Wisdom!

Proverbs 8:11 NIV – for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.

Proverbs 16:16 NIV – How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!

“If you think investing in yourself is expensive, you should try ignorance”

3. Develop Right Relationships

If you see a turtle on the top of a fencepost, you know he had help getting there!

Remember there are 2 ways to disaster:

  1. Take Nobody’s advice
  2. Take Everybody’s advice

“Many receive advice, only the wise profit from it” Syrus

Relationships will either propel you or sustain you. People are like elevators they take you up or bring you down. So wrong relationships are thieves to your success

Who are the Right people?

•People who have Success and Experience in the area that you need help

•People who have unconditional love for you

•People who have good thinking skills

•People who have nothing to gain by your choice

Initiate the right relationships.

(Hebrews 10:25 NIV) Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another–and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Wisdom is the Master Key to being Extraordinary

II Chronicles 1:11-12 NIV – God said to Solomon, “Since this is your heart’s desire and you have not asked for wealth, possessions or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, 12 therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, possessions and honor, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have.”

God wants you to live an Extra-ordinary life if you want it.

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight

(Quote) Proverbs 3:6 (The Living Bible) In everything you do, put God first, and He will direct you and crown your efforts with success.

Ephesians 3:20 AMP – Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us,

Matthew 19:16-22 (The Message)16 Another day, a man stopped Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” 17 Jesus said, “Why do you question me about what’s good? God is the One who is good. If you want to enter the life of God, just do what he tells you.” 18-19 The man asked, “What in particular?” Jesus said, “Don’t murder, don’t commit adultery, don’t steal, don’t lie, honor your father and mother, and love your neighbor as you do yourself.” 20 The young man said, “I’ve done all that. What’s left?” 21 “If you want to give it all you’ve got,” Jesus replied, “go sell your possessions; give everything to the poor. All your wealth will then be in heaven. Then come follow me.” 22 That was the last thing the young man expected to hear. And so, crestfallen, he walked away. He was holding on tight to a lot of things, and he couldn’t bear to let go.
